It is probably an old tipe, but I have just configured my Windows XP Parallels VMs
to use my MacBook buit-in iSight Web Cam using the driver that you can find here:
-
Download iSight Driver for XP
The site states that it does not work with Parallels, but I am using the release Build 3170 RC3 and I do not have any issue.
- Start your VM
- Download the Driver & Unip zip
- Grab the Built-In iSight using the Devices > USB menu
- Point the Windows Devices Manager Installer to the location of the Unzipped folder
- and you are done...
thanks! worked great!
ReplyDeleteNo gain to do it from my virtualized Windows. Most of the time i work with OS X (and not Windows)...Windows is just on my Mac for doing tests with IE or for using Word/PowerPoint/Excel.
ReplyDeleteTools like Skype, supporting video chat, interconnect very well Mac people and Windows folks.
I would agree with you, no gain to do it on the Virtualized windows, and like you I do use Skype, iChat and even now Mercury Messenger (MSN client for mac with Cam support).
ReplyDeleteBut I needed to use Windows for internal meeting and wanted to be able to use the video support as well
actually I was lost up to your step 3...it states not match driver...
ReplyDeleteMercury Messenger is crap. For webcam use aMSN.
ReplyDeleteOh btw, drivers didnt't work in XP virtualised with WMVare
Hello,
ReplyDeleteWhen I did it I had no issue with VMWare. And I do agree that aMSN is a lot better in term of usability than Mercury.

ReplyDeleteWorked fantastic in Parallels. Yahoo! Messenger had no problems, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe installer can't find the unzipped folder despite me navigating to its location (e.g., Desktop).
