Netbeans : OC4J support available
It has been a long time that I did not look in the update center and development wiki of Netbeans. And I have been very pleased to see that it is possible now to register OC4J 10g as a server in Netbeans 5.5 (and 6.0). To add it in your environment just do a :
- Tools > Update Center
- Select "Netbeans Update Center Beta"
- Select OC4J 10g

Totally cool. I love NetBeans and I use OC4J.
I don't so that using oc4j is better on Netbeans. if we need to use oc4j it's recommanded to use jdev. Now a moved to netbeans because i have some problem not with oc4j but but tomcat deployment in jdev.
Very nice tool, but it is not working under Netbeans 6.0 M10. No Exceptions, No Activity, No Menu, nothing, asif there is no installed module :-)
I have been trying to install oc4j in NetBeans 6 Beta. Plugin installs, but nothing shows up under server tab. Any attempt to install fails -- does not like Platform location (C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\j2ee\home). Register Remore Domain does not work. OC4J is up & running (localhost:8888). Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi,
Me too facing same problem.I have installed oc4j plugin from the netbeans module update centre Beta. But when i go to Add Server and choose OC4J and then browse the directory( D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\j2ee\home) for oracle j2ee home location, next button/finish button is not enabled. May I know where am going wrong. Please Help me in this. Thanks in advance
Me three. I am having the same problem with OC4J on Netbeans 6.0 (Build 200711261600). Has anyone had any luck getting it to work?
Problem still exist - after the installation into NetBeans IDE 6.0.1 (Build 200801291616) no entry into server list exist.
I could not grab the project source from CVS either, everything is in the attic
Nevermind, nothing is in HEAD, but there are source files in branches
i found the solution. You have to make a enviroment variable with name ORACLE_HOME and set path C:\your oc4j path\oc4j and then in the wizard of making server at location installation put the same path. Not C:\your oc4j path\oc4j\j2ee\home. Justa the same.
It does not work in NB 6.0.1.
Installed plugin does not add OC4J server to choose it from supported server list.
Jchull - What experiences you have with fresh source codes? Can you build new version of the plugin?
If you have functional one, please,
send it to my email.
Anonymous - I expect You have NB 5.5.X

i'm having the same problem (oc4j server dont show in the servers list), does it work on the netbeans 5.5? the bug is still on the 6.0+ ? about this enviroment variable, i dont have it, too no have ORACLE_HOME, how can i know where is the home of the oc4j?
With version 6.5 you need to set the update center "Latest Development Build" (http://deadlock.netbeans.org/hudson/job/nbms-and-javadoc/lastStableBuild/artifact/nbbuild/nbms/updates.xml.gz)
I don't understand: I set the update center to "Latest Development Build" and then what ?
Thanks.
After you set "Latest Development Build" and let the IDE finds available plugins from the internet, then waiting for a while two new plugins: "Auto Updagte UI" and "Auto Update Services" will appear on the "Updates" tab of Plugins dialog. Make sure both of the plugins are selected and click an update button. After finish installing those plugins, restart your IDE and open Plugins dialog again. This time you will see OC4J plugins so you can install it.
hi people, lets keep contact by email, about this bug, fixing, etc, my email is fredrischter at gmail dot com, now i'm working with other features of netbeans, thank
I was able to install OC4J plugin on my Netbeans 6.5 installation.
So I can see OC4J as the choices in the server setup in NB. However, I am still not able to configure the OC4J Container.
Wizard keeps asking me for Installation location, and though I give my installation path as the correct one: (C:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\j2ee\home), the button to proceed remains disabled.
Has anyone got OC4J correctly working with NB 6.5? Any help will be appreciated.
AD, i had partially sucess using integration of Netbeans 5.5 with OC4J, but not in 6.0, i supose 6.5 or later will be very hard to you work with.
If you want to enjoy some integration with OC4J, the better choice is to use the IDE JDeveloper, that is well integrated with.
Pls contact me msn and email fredrischter at gmail dot com.
